For label converters looking to make a big move in their business, this is definitely a buyer’s market. Over the course of the next month, several prominent industry tradeshows will open their doors – promising new technology, live demonstrations, countless networking opportunities, and perhaps – most important of all – the chance to transform one’s business.

Labelexpo Americas and PRINTING United will both attract attendees on September 10-12, 2024, with offerings aimed at different groups of printers. Labelexpo Americas is the industry’s legacy tradeshow for labels, and converters can find any number of new technologies poised to enhance their business. PRINTING United, meanwhile, will boast a Labels & Packaging section, but the crux of the Alliance’s offering is expansion into new markets. With all printing technologies under one roof, a label printer might explore expansion into commercial printing – or vice versa.

In today’s day and age, the modern label printer requires transformation due to a bevy of obstacles that show no signs of going away. The workforce challenge, for one, has forced owners to pivot, looking at equipment and software that can mitigate the loss or absence of critical employees. Speed is another factor, as brands are not nearly as tolerant of long lead times as they once were. Finally, sustainability will emerge as a focus of nearly every booth. Not only are brands making sustainable requests, legislation coming down the line will make environmental endeavors mandatory.

And for those in our industry who have questions, suppliers have answers. They will all be working their booths this event season. If the prospect of navigating multiple shows seems like a tall task, lean on L&NW for help. In this issue alone, we will take readers inside the halls of Labelexpo Americas and detail what they can expect in Rosemont. Turn to page 68 for an in-depth preview.

Meanwhile, L&NW sat down with Mark Subers to discuss the benefits of attending the PRINTING United Expo and how the event has grown to become a top 30 tradeshow in the country. To hear from Mark, head to page 14.

For industry members unable to attend one or both of these major events, we have you covered. In addition to a strong presence at both shows, L&NW will be bringing readers live coverage from Labelexpo Americas and PRINTING United.

Plus, the coverage doesn’t end when the events do. The technology exhibited in Rosemont and Las Vegas has the potential to transform the industry – and maybe your business – in the coming years. Make sure to take note.
